Amateur install

I bought this for my new 2011 Chevy Siverado 1500 Work Truck. I previously had a front end 2 inch receiver on my 2007 Nissan Frontier made by Curt and was happy with the brand, so got this receiver for my new truck. I note in the directions that a professional should allow 1/2 hour for install and a DIYer should allow 1 hour. I suggest a rank amateur with barely the right tools like me should allow three or four hours. That being said, all went well. The first step, however is to take the two inch plastic fender extender off the bottom of the front fender to allow room for the receiver. Also note that the washers for shimming the posterior extender to the axle may not be necessary (I had to take them off). The little fishing wire provided works very well, once you realize that the access hole referred to in the directions may be covered by the plastic "skid plate" shield below the radiator ( don't remove it entirely, loosen the top screws and remove the bottom two and it will flip down enough to allow access.

Once on it is very accessible, strong (held in place by eight heavy bolts) and inobtrusive. I use it to park a trailer and to hold my winch when in use which is mounted on a two inch receiver carrier.

And unlike the hitch for the Nissan Frontier, everything lined up great - I had to drill out a couple of holes by 1/8th inch on the former. Not on this one.

Curt Manufacturing 31322 Front Mount Receiver - Simple

Simple to install, No drilling.It took me roughly 20 minutes to install this on my 2009 Silverado. Having this front hitch makes moving my trailers around in tight places a snap. No more neck strain from turning around to back a trailer in (I have herniated disks in my neck) close quarters. The hitch appears well built. Upon arrival I found the paint was chipped because of shipping issues. I think this could be resolved with a little more thought in packing.

I contacted the company (Curt) and their customer service rep was sympathetic and offered several solutions including sending a replacement. Customer service is important to me and they "Did Good."

Excellent front hitch

I installed this hitch with minimal problems. The manufacturer says you can install the hitch in 30 minutes, which is a stretch. You would need to have everything work out perfect for this happen. Total time to install was about 1.5 hours. I had a bit of trouble lining up the back support structure, but with some assistance with a 2" beam into the hitch to apply some force, I managed to line up the holes. This Curt hitch is very well built. I would buy other products made by Curt mfg.
