Product Description

All CURT hitches feature WeatherTite construction, which prevents rusting from the inside out by sealing the main body of the hitch. The receiver tube has an open back end to allow for easy cleaning and for dirt and moisture to pass through and not get trapped as is common with other brands of hitches. All CURT hitches come with mounting hardware and installation instructions. CURT is the only hitch company in the industry that mechanically de-scales all of our hitches before applying a thick powder coat finish, which is baked on for a high-gloss, smooth surface. CURT trailer hitches are simply the most attractive, most durable and toughest hitch on the market. You won’t find better quality and value anywhere!

5Good Fit
By hinglemar
I mounted this on my '02 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel Dually. It tucks up nicely under the bumper. I had to trim the black air dam about an inch to clear the receiver and the loops are just below the dam. This uses 3 of the 4 bumper mounting points on each side (leave the last one in so the bumper doesn't fall off). I don't have the factory tow hooks so I don't know if it interferes with those.

4nice hitch, frustrating install
By looki
I just installed this hitch on my 1996 Dodge 2500 cummins diesel pickup. The hitch is really nicely finnished and tucks up with the reciever comming out just under the license plate on the front. I did remove the air dam under the bumper and left it off to make it easier to get to the safety chain loops. The instructions say you can notch it around the reciever. All in all it is a quality built product. The reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because of the way they designed the mounting brackets. There are three tabs that point up with a bolt hole in each one. The center tab required me to drill a hole an inch from an exsisting hole in the frame, a better design may be to make the center tab longer with two holes to fit more trucks. The other more frustrating part was two of the three holes on each side go into a boxed portion of the frame. You will need to feed the 1/2 inch carriage bolts and 1 x 2 flat bar washers through a 1 1/4 inch hole in the frame several inches fr om the center bolt. The hole is to small to fit the bolt and washer through together. The saving grace is they provide you with a fishwire tool, this is a piece of spring steel wire that looks like a throttle return spring. You thread this on the end of the bolt then push the bolt through the hole, next you slide the washer onto the wire and push it through the hole in the frame. That puts the washer on the bolt. Now you have to take the other end of the wire and push it back through the hole you put the bolt in and fiddle around until you get the end of the wire to come out of the hole you want the bolt in. Then all you do is pull the bolt through the hole in the frame with the wire. Now that you have one bolt in you only have three more to go. Compare that to the Draw-tite hitch for the same truck. They bolt theirs under the swaybar bracket and one exsisting hole in the frame. At least that is the directions they have on line. The down side is the Draw-tite hitch costs abo ut $50 dollars more than the Curt hitch. But may be worth the price if fiddling with a wire trying to get it through a hole in the frame will drive you nuts. I guess Reese uses the same hitch as Draw-tite.Reese Towpower 65003 Front Mount Hitch Receiver

3Marginal Fit
By Schenkzoola
I installed this on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel.

The factory bolts and holes are 12mm, the replacement hardware is 1/2". The 1/2" replacement hardware barely fits through the factory holes. I found that the fish spring included made the bolts too large to fit through the factory frame holes.

Only two of the three bolt holes on each side lined up with anything. There was a bumper bolt in the frame that could have lined up with the center hole in the hitch, if the hole was in the right place. There was also a slot in the frame they could have used.

The tabs for the center holes interfered with the front body mounts. I had to trim 1/4" off the tabs on the hitch to make it fit.
